Helen's work is inspired by the forms, patterns and dynamics found in the natural world, such as fern fronds, shells, the movement of water and the ever changing sky. Through the sensual handling of clay the natural process of growth, containment and disintegration are evoked. |

Porcelain with its strength and characteristic ability to express delicacy, fluidity and luminosity is used to produce the delicate lidded pots, bowls, vases, light-holders and teapots "with attitude!" Each piece of work is individual, handbuilt or thrown on the potter's wheel and altered with additional applied elements.
Stoneware is used for "The Green Man" images and for larger, "landscape" forms. Both porcelain and stoneware are used for bowls, vases, planters and fountains, with textures reminiscent of cliffs and rockpools. |

Surface and colour are as important as form and texture. A wide variety of specially developed glazes are used to enhance the form and add to the tactile quality. There is a certain degree of unpredictability in the fluid and crater glazes, which emphasise the dynamism, and individuality of each piece.
Helen welcomes commissions and is happy to discuss your own ideas. |
